Objects of the Physically Active Lifestyle Society (PALS)
The Physically Active Lifestyle Society (PALS) is a non-profit society consisting entirely of volunteers, governed by a board of directors, and duly registered in 2008 with the Registrar of Joint Stocks Companies Nova Scotia. PALS was formed with, and continues to maintain, the goals of promoting physical activities and advocating healthy lifestyles.
PALS will sponsor, organize and promote the Guysborough County Walkathon as function in which persons — from children through to seniors — can strive to participate as a personal activity challenge.
PALS will sponsor, organize and conduct the Guysborough County Triathlon (consisting of three categories: swimming, bicycling and running) so it will not only provide an opportunity for, but also inspire Guysborough County residents, other Nova Scotians, or visitors from afar, to be actively involved by being one of its competitors or organizational volunteers.
PALS will also strive to develop the Guysborough County Triathlon as an activity via which, regardless of whether they are participants or observers, teenagers or seniors, males or females, Guysborough County residents or not, people will be exposed to the benefits of physical fitness and healthy lifestyles.
PALS will also sponsor, organize and promote the Guysborough County Walkathon and the Guysborough County Triathlon as fund raisers for Guysborough County’s three rural hospitals: Eastern Memorial Hospital Foundation, Guysborough Memorial Hospital Foundation, and St. Mary’s Memorial Hospital Society.
Besides being an advocate for physical activity and healthy lifestyles, PALS will promote the Guysborough County Triathlon and the Guysborough County Walkathon to populations — both in and outside of Guysborough County — with the goal that Guysborough County residents, as well as non-residents, will travel in, or to, Guysborough County.
In conclusion, PALS will be guided by its maxim: “Activity for Better Health”.
